Organisation and Ministries (Contact Details)
Acolytes
Acolytes serve our faith community by supporting the Priest in the celebration of Mass and other Sacraments, and by distributing Communion during Mass. Acolytes are trained and accredited for their tasks.
Altar Society
A very dedicated group of women in the Parish are rostered to look after the altar. They provide flowers and ensure that the altar is clear and tidy for Mass. Altar Society members usually carry out their work on Fridays or Saturdays. More volunteers are always welcome.
Building and Finance Committee
This Committee assists the Priest and accountant in financial and asset management, recording and reporting. The Committee maintains the Parish assets, manages the Parish’s finances and ensures that financial and asset management is in line with Diocesan guidelines.
Catholic Women's League (CWL)
The Holy Rosary parish CWL branch was the first to be established in WA in July 1937.
Since its inception, the CWL has been a vital part of our parish. Its patron is “Our Lady help of Christians” and its motto is “Charity, Work, Loyalty”.
The League is a parish-based organisation focussed on women, families, social justice, human rights and bioethical issues. It also supports the community's spiritual and practical needs and :provides a voice for lay women and makes representations to government
The League operates not only in the parish, but has associations at diocesan, State and national levels. Through its ties with the World Union of Catholic Women’s Organisations, it is represented at the Vatican and the UN.
The League is involved in ecumenical functions including the annual global World Day of Prayer services, the National Council of Women and Australian Church Women. It forms a trio with the St Vincent de Paul Society and the Knights of the Southern Cross.
Children's Liturgy Group - SUSPENDED
The mission of this group is to teach the Gospel to children at the 8.45am Sunday Mass. The Leaders deliver the Sunday Gospel in a way that children understand.
Our present Holy Rosary group reads and discusses scripture at its meetings and progresses through the bible at a leisurely pace.
Church Cleaners
Our willing volunteers clean the church in pairs or groups once every second month. We are seeking more volunteers.
Liturgy Committee
The Liturgy is the summit towards which the activity of the Church and Parish is directed. It is the means by which Christians express in their lives and manifest to others the Mystery of Christ.
The committee seeks to enrich worship in the Parish by reviewing present practices and by suggesting modifications. The committee seeks to create an inclusive liturgy which encourages the full participation of all parishioners.
Morning Tea Ministry
On the first three Sundays of each month after the 8.45am Mass (except during school holidays), there is morning tea in the Parish Centre.
This provides an opportunity for parishioners and newcomers to meet in a social setting.
Music Ministry
The Music Ministry enhances liturgical celebrations and ensures that the Parish’s liturgical music is at a standard consistent with the Church’s guidelines and Parish traditions.
The ministry places importance on the training formation of its members and encourages active participation of the congregation in worship through music.
Parish Pastoral Council
The Parish Pastoral Council represents the whole parish and is the Parish Priest's main advisory body. Its brief is apostolic outreach, the care and wellbeing of Parishioners, providing the means for Christian formation in the Parish and collaboration with the finance committee.
The Council meets ten times a year.
Readers
Readers assist in the Liturgy of the Word at Parish Eucharists. Their aim is to present the Word of God in a meaningful and reverent manner to the faithful.
Religious Education (RE) Programme
Classes are offered to children preparing for the Sacraments. Catechists are trained and accredited for their task of preparing the children. These classes are usually held after school in the Parish Hall during school terms.
Safeguarding Project
Holy Rosary Parish has adopted and supports the Archdioscean Safeguarding Project.

Shenton Christian Council (SCC)
The Shenton Christian Council (SCC) helps provide a programme of Christian Religious Education (CRE) in government schools.
The Parish supports, both financially and with volunteers, the work of the Council. All its teachers are trained and accredited.
The programme is co-ordinated by the Council which supervises seven schools in our area.
Apart from CRE teaching, members gather for ecumenical fellowship with parishioners of the SCC church network.
There are five chaplains in SCC primary and high schools and they are partially financed by fundraising events and donations.
Within the SCC area, there are another 60 accredited volunteer teachers.
Holy Rosary currently has four volunteer CRE teachers but we are seeking more volunteers.
If you are keen to find out more about this activity, please contact the Parish's SCC coordinator Cathy Plowman.
Special Ministers
Special Ministers serve our Faith community by assisting with the distribution of Communion during Mass and by taking Communion to the frail, sick and elderly of the Parish. The Parish Priest trains Special Ministers in their duties.
St. Vincent de Paul
The St Vincent de Paul Society is one of the largest and longest serving charities in WA, offering for 150 years a hand up to people in need. It assists many West Australians through food and material aid, budget advice, shelter, advocacy and support. The Perth conference was founded in 1865 when it began to carry out the core work of Home Visitation. Today, the Society has more than 75 conferences comprising dedicated men and women who live out their faith in action by providing hope, comfort and dignity to disadvantaged Western Australians trapped by circumstances such as sickness, job loss, mental illness and family breakdown. Nedlands conference Members and Associates are available for home visitation and emergency relief through the Call Centre (phone 1300 794 054). Vinnies are generously supported with donations of food from the Parish which can be placed in the collection container in the Church Porch. Funding comes through the Annual Street Appeal, Winter and Christmas Appeals and Parish Poor Boxes at Holy Rosary Nedlands and the Carmelite Monastery.
For further information or if you are interested in becoming a Member or an Associate, please contact Nedlands Conference President - Carl Gazia
