Fr Gavin Gomez
Parish Priest(2018 - Present)
Born in a busy port city of Chittagong, Bangladesh, I began my studies in St Placid’s Catholic School, an all boys school with over one thousand students. In 1964, at the age of nine my family emigrated to England where I continued my studies at St John’s Secondary School in Upton Park, East London. Then having completed further studies in Business and Accountancy, I immigrated to Perth Australia in September 1988.
In February 2000 I entered St. Charles Seminary in Guilford studying for Priesthood and was ordained in St Mary’s Cathedral Perth by Archbishop Barry James Hickey in December 2005. In February 2006 I began my first appointment as Assistant Priest in St Thomas the Apostle, Claremont, for one year and then Our Lady of Mercy, Girrawheen for another year. Following this I was appointed Parish Priest in St Bernadette’s, Port Kennedy where I ministered for ten years and in February 2018 commenced in Holy Rosary Nedlands.
